quit smoking benefitsQuitting smoking is one of the hardest decisions that a hardcore smoker can do.  Not only is it a mental decision, but the physical aspects of quitting smoking can be enormous.  The biggest thing that one must consider are the overall benefits of “kicking the habit”.  There are many, as this article will attempt to cover.  With an open mind and strong desire these benefits can be achieved.

First of all, the most important benefit to quitting smoking is the fact that you will prolong your life.  Not only does this have a direct impact on the smoker, but all that know and love him or her will be affected.  Most people want to live a long and healthful life, and quitting smoking will, at least, insure many added years to a person’s life.

Kicking the habit will decrease the chance that your children will become sick.  Respiratory infections are more common in children exposed to second hand smoke.   Why should everyone around you, especially the ones you love, have to suffer to help support your habit.

Another benefit of quitting smoking is that you will feel healthier.  After quitting you won’t cough as much, or have as many sore throats.  You will also experience and increased energy level.

One great benefit to quitting smoking is that you will improve your sense of taste and smell.  Food will become alive with flavor and those aromas will have and enhanced effect.  What a wonderful feeling it will be to walk in a bakery and enjoy the true smell of fresh baked bread once again.  And the flavor of your favorite food will come alive on your taste buds.

You can also improve your looks by quitting smoking.  Smoking can cause face wrinkles, yellow teeth, and stained skin.  You will have a better appearance to people, and your visits will be much more enjoyable not only for you, but for the people around you.

Finally, last but not least, a major benefit to quitting smoking is that it will save you money.  Just think of the money spent on cigarettes over the course of one year, one month, or even a week.  What have you wanted that you cannot afford?  This could be an enticement as well as benefit to quitting smoking.

So, one can see that there are many benefits to quitting smoking.  You will feel better, look better, last longer, and you will definitely save some money.  So, what are you waiting for?
